Requests for posting should be submitted to KOLEMETH-ANNOUNCE@USCJ.ORG. All postings are at the discretion of the moderator and/or email committee. To determine the appropriateness of a particular post before sending, write to moderator@kolemeth.org.
Email Guidelines for Posting Messages:
- Use subject lines that are descriptive and meaningful.
- Avoid inaccurate or incorrectly worded content.
- Watch facts, grammar and typographical errors.
Posting of the following items may be requested: To limit the number of emails sent to the list we compile announcements weekly.
- Official Kol Emeth synagogue announcements, including notices of meetings or other important and timely information relating to the synagogue
- Life cycle events, illnesses or other important announcement concerning members and former members
- A course/event/lecture, etc. with specific Jewish content given at a local Jewish-affiliated institution, or with the participation of an organization with the Jewish community. Example: Hebrew course at the JCC
- Information about Jewish resources in the local community Example: New sources for kosher food
- Local issues that have a specific impact on the local Jewish community. Example: news about Palo Alto City Council deliberations on the eruv, location of the new JCC
- Gemilut Hasadim or works of a charitable nature
Example: Russian immigrant requiring work or temporary lodging, elderly person needing transportation to the doctor
- Official statements of Jewish organizations, such as the Jewish Community Relations Council, Jewish Family and Children's Services, Hebrew Free Loan Association, etc.
- Messages Not Appropriate for Posting
- Jokes
- Your personal opinion
- Items that might otherwise be appropriate for a classified advertisement
- Items related to Jewish issues that are not specific to the local area
- Items related to non-Jewish local issues
- Items related to general political or cultural issues (Congressional races, gun control, etc.)
- Messages that comment on previous messages
- Chain letters and hoaxes
- Names of bar/bat mitzvah families (to protect privacy)
- Individual members phone numbers (to protect privacy)
