Message from the President

President Martha Amram

Welcome to Congregation Kol Emeth. We are proud to be a strong and vibrant Conservative synagogue community in Palo Alto, CA. Led by our two rabbis, we think of ourselves as lifelong learners, with Jewish education and religous services for all ages, from toddlers to adults.

The center of our weekly life are our Shabbat morning services. We do a full Torah reading each Shabbat in an egalitarian, lay-led service. (That's right, we don't have a cantor!) Our Kol Shabbat program welcomes children who attend Jewish day schools and children who attend our weekday after-school program. Our teens help out in our Saturday classes and in our special religious service for children. And after services, everyone comes together in our courtyard for a delightful kiddush. We welcome visitors Shabbat morning, and our greeters are there to help you feel at home.

Our evenings are filled with classes, and we have special offerings for adult learning. Kol Emeth recently won an award for our "One Shul, One Book" program, a series of lectures, classes and discussions about the book selected for the year. Our programs include a women's study retreat, a Sunday Talmud class, and beginning Hebrew.

We welcome new members, and offer programs so that you may try us out. Consider joining us for the High Holidays, including the free children's services. How about coming on a Friday night with your young family to Making Room for Shabbat? We also offer Friday night dinners for adults and once a month Rabbi Booth hosts Friday night services at his home near Kol Emeth.

At Kol Emeth, we aspire to be a kehillah kedoshah, a sacred community, one that helps us grow spiritually, in learning, and in tikun olam, community service. We aspire to be a warm and welcoming community  -- please join us!
